We are planning to purchase a Townhome in Manalapan, NJ. I would appreciate any input about the neighborhood, the schools, and the community. I work in New Brunswick and so it would be a 19-mile commute. While it is slightly higher than normal, I am prepared for a 40-minute ride.

Is the neighborhood safe?
While I don't live in Manalapan, I don't believe there's any unsafe neighborhood. I also believe that on a good day 40 minutes is realistic. You're going to be in traffic most of the time on route 9 and route 18. Plan on closer to 1 hour each way.

I just drove by there this afternoon. Seems like a very nice area.
On the south-southwest is a Four Seasons at Manalapan 55+ community. On the east-northeast side is the houses surrounding Battleground Country Club. Open field on the west-northwest side.
I doubt it is going to be a 40-minute ride at rush hour to New Brunswick, unless you are planning on leaving home at 6am in the morning. Agree with the other estimate of 60 minutes commute.
Agree with other posters, it will be more than 40 mins. Here is a suggestion for commute using inside roads: 527 -> 522 -> 130N -> 1N -> New Brunswick, but I think this will also be close to 50 min or an hour.
I live in Meadow Creek (townhouse)- It's a great community. New Brunswick isn't a bad commute, especially compared to a very large percentage of people who commute to NYC, which is just awful.
It will be an hour from there to New Brunswick at normal commuting times.
