no, not really there are areas with minorities, it is mostly rural where you usually don't find a diverse crowd in NJ. If diversity is important to you consider some of the towns in essex county, and if urban is ok for you, you can't find an area more diverse than hudson county

Is it just me or is "What is the level of racial tension in _________" constantly a topic here?

You think it's bad in the NJ forum, try hoping into the Atlanta forum for a while. If I hear the term "diversity" one more time, I think I'm going to puke.......

I am coming from essex county where divesity is big. I do not want to shock my daughter by making her the only black girl in her class. Right now all of her classes are mix with all races. The neighborhood does not bother me. Yes I would like to know what is the racist tension in the county.

sussex is no different than anyplace else, you'll find nice people, you'll find jerks, if your daughter gets along with people well there shouldn't be many problems.

Well, let's put it this way- Sussex County is no where near as "diverse" as Essex County, and there's a very good possibility that your daughter may be the only black girl in her class. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be a traumatic experience for her, or that she'll be taunted or abused- just that she might not have as many blacks to interact with as she's used to.

she is the only black girl on her swim team. thank you guys for your input, I just wanted to make sure that I was going to put her in a county that does not accept minorities. I understand there are idots everywhere but if you can avoid the majority of them I will.
Once again thanks for your input.
