Give away Hudson, Union and Essex counties to NY (or whoever will take them) and Camden county to PA or DE.

Let peace and prosperity reign in NJ.

So you pretty much want to give away the state's financial/industrial/transportation/tech centers? With the cities gone you might achieve peace *sort of*. Prosperity? The jury's still out.

A greater NJ that included SEPA and downstate NY would be an economic and cultural beast, it is true. It would also reduce the friction of having multiple states/jurisdictions within the same metropolitan areas. Fun thought exercise at least.

Then maybe have NJ take over Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware as well as Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield Counties of CT. Does it make more sense for the Downstate Counties to become part of NJ than staying in NY?
At that rate, New Jersey will take over the whole Northeast...
