I think East brunswick seems like best bet, your wife can take bus from park and ride to JC (I am sure there are few but you have to double check) and you can drive down to Camden.
Other option is apartment next to exit 8A, e.g. Princeton Orchards Apartments on 356 Ridge Rd Dayton, NJ 08810. Problem here is you both have to drive. I do not think buses going from exit 8A park and ride goes to JC.
Tons of apartments around Edison, metropark is not bad option either. She will have commutes less than 40 minutes but your commute will be 70 minutes plus.

If you read the OP's posts than you'd see that he said they were thinking about Princeton. I was commenting on the area in response to OP's query.

They will both have awful daily commutes, based on the locations of both their jobs.

As an earlier poster said, one of them should change jobs. Their commute will get old, very, very fast.

Thank you everyone for the responses.
We saw some apartments in Plainsboro area, they are good but small in size.
Also we are looking around Dayton area - if we can find park and ride service to Jersey city - ANY IDEAS IF THERE ARE ANY PARK AND RIDE SERVICE TO OR AROUND EXCHANGE PLACE NJ

Hello Manish

Have you found answer to your questions yet? We are looking for a single family house, around Princeton area too, and travel to Exchange Place every day, but need flexibility for NYC too, in the long run. if any one here can give me a clear view of what its like to commute from Plainsboro/Lawrence to Princeton Junction, everyday, drive to Princeton Junction, park there, and take the express train to Newark and Path from there. Do you think its feasible? Any input is appreciated! We want value for our money, and good school district for both our kids, and North Edison is over rated, the way people are ready to pay way above asking there, is ridiculous!

Strictly From value, there are better options Hillsborough, monroe, robbinsville , south brunswick.

I know a couple that the wife worked outside Philadelphia and the husband worked in NYC. They settled on the Princeton/Plainsboro area as the best compromise for both their commutes. They did it for a couple of years but now that she is having their first child they actually are moving to Florida to be near family!!

Hi gimme_22,

Princeton is a good area to live. But parking at Princeton junction is a mess, its hard to get a parking permit - there is huge waiting as I learnt in this forum. we looked for that option and decided to rent an apt in monmouth jct NJ.
Consider the commute to Station from your home.
