Can you pls suggest a good place to buy home with below criterea?
1) 500 - 650 K buget
2) 10 -20% of Asian - Indian population.
3) Good schools
4) Low crime & safe
5) about 1- 1 1/2 hr commute to NYC
I started looking in union county - westfield, cranford. But I am kind of hesitant looking at the population live out there, dont see any Indian families. If we can't socialize with neighbors of other heritage, kids may feel odd growing up there alone. So I am trying to find a place that will have at least few Indian families around.
Is nutley a good choice? Im confused, please help !

If you want to live amongst Indian families then Cranford and Westfield are definitely not for you.
Also, sorry but I'm a bit confused - do you mean Indians as in Native Americans or Indians as in from the Asian country India? Either way, neither Cranford nor Westfield have a significant population of either.

Hi,
Thanks for your response, I meant asian-indian population. I have updated my orginial post to make it more clear.
we also looked at some homes in new providence. But I am kind of re-evaluating the list of towns we had been loooking so far.
Look at East Brunswick - great town with diversity and good schools, Colonia - again close to Edison and Indian shopping but a good mix, same with Metuchen.
Please also look at Scotch Plains/Fanwood. I heard good thing about the town from my friend.

Parsippany. It's a little cheaper than the Middlesex County places.

Thank you, i will research about these towns further.
Start from East Brunswick, the go south- South Brunswick, Monroe, Plainsboro, West Windsor, Robbinsville. Schools in all these cities are good, West Windsor is the most expensive as its schools are rated among the highest.
More votes for East Brunswick, Plainsboro, and South Brunswick here. Also West Windsor. Good sized Asian/Indian communities with a good mix of demographics and great schools.
Depending on where you live, South Brunswick may be a quicker commute to NYC than East Brunswick given South Brunswick's proximity to Exit 8A.
