Thank you for all of your replies! I didnt realize that a 50 minute commute would be a dream lol. Trying to get a feel for all areas . I guess since renting at first it will give us more knowledge on the surrounding areas to know where to purchase.

Since your renting first, checkout Springfield, Summit, Cranford, Westfield and/or South Orange. Where is your husband commuting to?

it depends upon where he's working, but yeah, 50 minutes isn't a long commute at all, and for people working in manhattan, 50 minutes is nearly impossible.
