Yup, corporal punishment exists in SC. I haven't heard of it happening since I've been here, but it is still the law. There are so many things done differently here. Some are better and some are worse. Some are just different. That's why it's so important to do that research. And even then you'll be in for a few surprises. I know I was.
I don't know how I feel about corporal punishment either but I told my 12 year old daughter it exists. I told her she better be good and I think it worked.

nic529 - They used to to the same in NC, but I think they've done away with it. I think after the Duke thing they decided they'd rather not get sued by all the NJ/NYers here. That prosecutor didn't realize what he was up against when confronted by those angry litigious, parents from Essex Fells and Long Island.

Very good quote nic. SWB is the biggest complainer on the forums. He is now complaining about NJerseans complaining. Go figure. To him its his was or the highway.

I wouldn't move just because things are tight, there are always remedys for that. I'm looking to go to n.c. for may reasons..cost of living,,climate, more laid back in n.c.& to be near the coast which I couldn't afford in Jersey. taxes & cost of living is just going to keep going up in Jersey...you have to look at the big picture for you & family

If I were a lifelong native of Alabama who moved to MA, what reason would I have to go back onto the AL forum to say how much better MA is and how much AL sucks? Our Tri-State area is especially infected with this disease, and you see it most on the Upstate NY forum, somewhat here on the NJ forum, and to a lesser extent in PA (but existenet nevertheless). Why?

I'm planning a move out of New Jersey within the next couple of months, and aside from popping in once in a while to catch up on the news, I can't imagine myself coming here to tell you all what a great move I made. First of all, moving from New Jersey is not the solution for everyone. Second, I think those people who leave NJ and feel it's necessary to tell everyone how stupid they are for staying are simply trying to justify and reinforce their decision to move. Hopefully, once they settle into their new place and feel secure, they will no longer have to torture the rest of you. Of course, that doesn't help while it's going on. To those who have left: Have a little courtesy. Some people here are unhappy, but I really believe the majority of people in NJ are happy here. Leave them alone.

"Biggest complainer on the forums?" Really? Out of nearly 220,000 people you couldn't find anyone better to sink your fangs into? By the way, please elaborate on what you mean by "his was."
