summarizing all question:
daliowa-
i have twins, they are just 1yr old. so not much concerned abt school for now but need pharmacy shops around.
work location is 3 metrotech center, brooklyn. No car parking available, so need to depend on public transport.

Bellhead -
I am open for any locations, as long as it's safe & good neighborhood. Can you suggest any townhouse in Queens within 2k for 2 bed apmt. Don't really want to stay in congested house rather prefer to commute for an Hr.
Staying with Indian community is just a preference not a mandate and there is no language problem. Can be a good start to socialize for kids.
I have lived in Greenwich CT in past for 2 yrs with all American neighborhood.

Guys - pls dont drag this thread on English/Indian comminuty topic. I am looking for serious suggestions in terms of stay.

Given your commuting requirements your options are Brooklyn, Queens, and Nassau County (as long as your train terminates at Atlantic terminal, not Penn Station, then it is a very quick subway ride to your office). If you want a suburban area, then I would go with Nassau County. In particular, areas near New Hyde Park and Mineola train stations have decent sized Indian communities.

MetroTech is Downtown B'klyn., not far from Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, near the bridge.

Why schlep from Queens or Jersey every day? Live in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Heights is pricey, so take a look at Bay Ridge neighborhood, down towards the Verazzano Bridge. You just hop on the "R" train & it takes you right to MetroTech.

When my hubby worked at MetroTech he was able to drive & park in the underground garage, but he has a handicapped tag.

You say you need to be near a pharmacy. I assume that someone in your family is ill. There are pharmacies everywhere in B'klyn.

Some health insurance plans that have prescription (RX) coverage mandate that you fill the RX's at a specific chain. If living close to the pharmacy is an important part of your decision, than best to check with your employer as to whether RX's have to be filled at a certain chain of pharmacies.

I suggest posting in the New York forum for tips on the best places to look in Brooklyn for an apartment within your price range.

Lots of nice areas of Brooklyn, also it's very walkable, great public transportation & great local shopping.

To familiarize yourself with the NYC subway system & buses:
MTA | Subway, Bus, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North

Also, you'll save a lot of money by not having to commute from Jersey or Long Island.

You could of moved to East or South Brunswick or Edison if you wanted a big Indian community. Def South Brunswick though.
