Just to share my experience: so I paid the $100 and appealed my assessed value for 2015. I was able to pulled several transactions that took place last year. I wasn't sure if these comps are strong enough for my case but decided to try anyway. I contacted the tax assessor after I filed and he told me that he would like to stop by to inspect the property. I said sure - anything that would help you to help me
He was very professional and the process took about 15 minutes. He took a few pictures and we chatted briefly about my apartment. At the end of the day I was offered a deal to lower my assessed value by 8% which I happily accepted
