Hi all,

We are a family of 3 (parents + 4 yr old), moving to Northern New Jersey as my husband just got a new job in Hackensack. I am pretty clueless as to where to begin the apt search and more so, school districts for my son. He is about to start pre-k here in NY but I am receiving conflicting information as to this service. I work from home but mainly on the phone so he must attend school during the day.

We are looking for a safe neighborhood, good school district in a 2 bedroom (max. $1500/month rent).

Any suggestions? - Thanks in advance!!

Maybe Fair Lawn? Not too far from Hackensack, schools are ok, it's safe, and you might find something in a two-family for that rent.

What are your political views?

I'm always surprised people don't ask this first when searching for a town. Towns can vary significantly in education, politics even though they look similar on the surface.

Look at maywood. It is near Hackensack and is fine for elementary school.
