How's Castillo's in Trenton these days? Still around? I lived in Hamilton almost 20 years ago and we always used to order from them.

I have to say the only things besides family I miss from NJ are the Pizza's and the subs. Nothing but chain pizza and Subway/Quizznos for subs, now those are not real subs! Everytime I get a chance to visit home I have to have a real cheesesteak cause what they have here are steak and cheese which is not the same at all! Now I'm hungry!

Best pizza in and near Jersey (BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD):

1.) *Original Ray's in Closter, NJ - huge slices, high quality ingredients, outstanding* (cant believe nobody mentioned it yet on this forum topic)
2.) Kinchley's in Ramsey, NJ - very thin crust, great sauce
3.) Tarrantella's in Nyack, NY - tasty pie, big slices, great buffalo chicken slice
4.) Andiamo in Haworth, NJ - not a popular place for take-out pizza because it is a nice sit-down restaurant, but trust me. crispy, thin crust, delicious, try the sausage, pepper, and onion pie.
5.) Any Seaside Heights/Wildwood boardwalk pizza, maybe it's because I'm always under the influence when at these places, but there's something about that dirty boardwalk pizza that gets me.
6.) There's a place in Hoboken near the Path on Washington St. that's open very late and has quality pie, someone mentioned it in a previous post, but I forget the name off the top of my head.
7.) Pizza Club in Edgewater, NJ has great pizza and a riverfront/city view.
8.) Rudy's in Closter, NJ is good for your every-day feed the family-type pie.
9.) Ray's in Cresskill, NJ is new, and apparently not affiliated with the Closter Ray's (although only about 3 miles away). It is also not quite as good (more oily/salty). It is still better than most, plus the place is very clean and has big screen TVs.
10.) Cousin's Pizza in Northvale, NJ is delicious, authentic, great toppings, should be higher on this list if i was listing them starting with the best.
11.) Fort Lee Pizza on 9W - good, consistent, high-quality north jersey pie
12.) The Mountain House, Sparkhill, NY - another high-quality thin crust restaurant, familty style

I probably left some out, since I've eaten a lot of pizza around Jersey. This list is only of places that currently exist. Some other great places have gone out of business or moved too far away.

I find Manhattan pizza to be terrible. Unless it's a smaller place on the east side, or in Little Italy, it is usually a crappy tourist trap. If you're in the city, head to Brooklyn for great pizza. Otherwise, Jersey has the best pizza in the Tri-state, for sure.

Also, if you honestly think that Papa John's/Little Ceasar's/Domino's/Pizza Hut are the best in Jersey: Jump off the GWB, because you are worthless and stupid.

If you were just joking (sarcastic tone is tough to detect via message boards): good one

Actually Domino's rules. And Subway makes the best cheesesteaks-better than anything you could ever get in south Philly

Easy, because there are those who think Pizza Hut, Dominoes and Papa John's is authentic Italian Pizza. I betcha most of them have never heard of a "White" pie.

My favorite! With garlic salt sprinkled on the top..yumm! That Gourmet pizza place on 94 in Blairstown makes a great white pizza! Gourmet Tomatoe I think it's called...the owner is a former baker and the crust is delicious!

You mean..big slices of Jersey Tomatoes! I'm enjoying my NJ Beef Steak tomatoe on toast with mayo, S&P sandwiches at the moment.

There's so much you can do w/ a white pie, I like either just basil & garlic, or roasted peppers on mine. You can't go wrong w/ a pizza maker who was a baker.
