Hi,I'm a Londoner who's a fan of singer Frankie Valli and writer Philip Roth.I'd love to visit their birthplaces in Newark but I've heard bad news about Newark's violent reputation.I know Frankie was born in the Seventh Avenue area somewhere but I'm worried whether the area's dangerous even in the daytime
Philip Roth was born in Weequahic south of 78 and Frankie Valli in the Seventh Avenue area north of Newark Broad Street station; both are pretty grim nowadays. There really isn't anywhere in Newark except the campuses I'd stand around and gawk.
Actually it turns out that when Valli was 6,his family moved to Stephen Crane Plaza off South Franklin Avenue in Belleville so maybe a brisk late morning walk near neighbouring Brook Branch Park with not much more than the clothes on my back will keep me safe from being ambushed by the natives both there and around Summit Avenue in Weequahic 6 miles from there.Gotta go!

Well, apologies for the use of the term "native".It was not meant to be used in an offensive way but as an ironic term to refer to the fact that the places that I'd like to visit in the Newark area might not be safe even in daytime.Joining this forum was clearly a BAD idea but I can't seem to find a way of withdrawing my membership. So whoever's in charge, please kick me off the forum and delete my posts and I'll take my "nonsense" elsewhere,ok
