A single person on 50K and you can't do it? No way. You need to tone your living down a little bit and live within your means.

I think it is wrong to try to convince OP that he should take the job. It sounds like a dead end job that only pays 50k. Economy is going well, one can get a job worth getting exited about.

Sorry, but I was thinking this too. I think OP should make a counter offer. If the company feels they are the right one for the job then see what they can do. They may offer more $$. Don't settle if you feel it isn't right.

Hi CD'ers - Made a counter offer and got to 55K. I am renting a condo in Jackson 20 minutes from work for $1,200. I move in February 1. Am really over the top excited. Can't wait to move.

Thanks for the feedback.

Technically, you could make 50K work anywhere. Even in Manhattan.

But Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex County have a ton of cheap places to live.

The more south you go, the cheaper it is in general and on 50K, you could very well in a number of places.
