Default Anyone have any thoughts on Clementon, NJ

I am moving to Clementon, NJ
The house is about 3 blocks from the Clementon Amusement park.
Can anyone tell me about the area? Is it safe? CLEAN? How are the local grade & high schools?
Would you raise kids there?
Thank you all!

Clementon is not a great place to live. It isn't very safe - the violent crime rate was 9 per 1000 residents while surrounding towns such as Voorhees, Gibbsboro and Berlin only have violent crime rates around 2 per 1000. There are a lot of drug problems in the Lindenwold-Clementon area.

Not sure how the Clementon elementary/middle schools are. The high school is Overbrook Regional which is a pretty sub-par school. Overall, I wouldn't want to raise my kids there.

my aunt lives in Clementon and I wouldn't even think about moving there. Just getting there you have to drive through some dirt bag apartments with shady types sitting on the steps waiting for their welfare check.

Try another place, leave Clementon alone because it'll hurt you.

Go to Google.com and enter crime rates in 08021. Go to the 3rd one down - Clementon Elementary School and read at the bottom of the page and see for yourself. It's not good.

Default clementon

Clementon is a very mixed community--some VERY nice homes, and yes some trashy apts. It's not the worst community in the area, maybe not the best. I teach at the elem. school there. It's a good school, very caring faculty, clean, safe facility.

I live right down the street in Blackwood, and I agree with the last post, the area is very mixed. There are some shady apartment complexes on Blackwood Clementon Rd, and I personally would never go to Clementon Park anymore, but there are some nice houses/areas near the Shoprite complex. My advice, check out the area on Google earth to see it first-hand. They can usually zoom in very close. Also, if you don't want to live in a mixed area, try Medford, Marlton, Haddon Township, Evesham, Moorestown, Voorhees, Shamong, Mullica Hill. All of these are some of South Jersey's very nice areas.

I used to live behind the Shop Rite in a very nice neighborhood. We moved before any of our kids were in the schools. I don't recommend Overbrook though.

Very mixed is the truth.. My girlfriend lives off of Little Gloucester road near Valleybrook country club and it is a very very nice neighborhood over there. Everything in that area is really nice, but if you go down towards Blackwood/Clementon Rd. or the blackhorse pike going south in Blackwood, it gets progressively ****ttier. The apartment complexes are all horrible (with possible exception of Lakeview apts, which I hear are alright), and there are some truly shady looking areas. It's kind of strange how you go just down the road and everything is completely different..
