I know you've disagreed with me about that outlet mall in the past. I don't shop for myself, so I hang around (now with kids) while my wife shops. I do like to be in a nice environment when im hanging out and I didn't find it nice there. how would you compare the outlets to the pier mall? why do you suppose I prefer the pier mall? im just trying to figure out how your opinions of the outlets is so different than mine.
The Pier Mall is nice also, except for all the closed shops. It does not appear to be doing well at all compared with a couple of years ago. I wish both malls would succeed, but with casinos closing left and right, that no longer seems likely.

As for Tanger, I can't explain the divergence in our viewpoints. I really do find it to be a pleasant place to shop with lots of nice stores, all kinds of deals, nice people. Maybe I am less picky about my environment than you are. Everybody has different toleration for noise, crowds, perceived danger, etc. I mean, when I was 18, I used to drive through the South Bronx and Stag Hill Rd in Mahwah simply to satisfy curiosity. I would take a drive around the Cross Island, Belt Pkwy and the Gowanus just to see the sights. I used to drive through Manhattan at 16. You weren't allowed to do that, so of course I enjoyed it even more. I attribute the fact that I am a good driver today to the fact that I trained on the streets of Manhattan during my teenage years.

My only problem with Tanger used to be parking. But now they built that new garage. So I can hop in the car, leave Borgata, and be ready to shop in about 11 minutes. I find the environment similar to that in Woodbury Commons, the Secaucus Outlets, or the Crossings in the Poconos.

I have the Total Rewards card, which is Harrah's, Bally's, and somebody else, I forget. The FREE rooms are usually Sunday through Thursday nights, but the weekend rates aren't bad--I think maybe $119 for a room at Harrah's, which is not the $400 that someone else claimed.

I claimed that. just because I remember a bunch of years ago I went on a weekend night during the summer and stayed at a crappy hotel near the boardwalk and I think I paid over $400 for that. I haven't paid for a room in AC for a long time since I only go with my mom to the Borgata. she is a platinum card holder there which means she is gambling away my potential inheritance and gets me a free suite when I go. I wouldn't be surprised if its less expensive now based on how I hear AC is doing these days.

i havent been to AC in a while due to having a baby last may. seems like things are falling apart over there.

my tolerance level of anything that doesnt fit my perfect world is pretty low when it comes to my personal time. i work in nyc and not in manhattan. i spend plenty of time in places id hate to be on the weekends. so its not like im afraid of being outside my bubble, i just dont like it.

NOBODY would pay $400 for a room in AC these days.

I get the offers every month, but I have never used them because when I go, maybe twice a year, I go by myself and just drive the hour and 20 minutes down the Parkway, play Let-It-Ride for a couple of hours, get something to eat maybe, and drive home. Then I've had my fix.

Oh wait, last August I went for my birthday and brought my daughter along, who hasn't yet learned that gambling is fun, but she wanted to do whatever I wanted for my birthday. I hit early on LIR for $150, so I made my daughter sit and taught her to play. We lost the money back, but we played for a while and had fun, then we got dinner and went back home. That's the last time I was there. Hmm. Think I'm due for a trip.

so i guess one piece of advice for the OP is to go sign up for a players card when they get there.

i havent learned that gambling is fun either. i feel like im just handing the casino money and getting nothing in return. i havent gambled a penny probably in over a decade. thats why i cant get room deals.
