I am looking into buying a property on Livingston Ave in North Brunswick, which is close to New Brunswick, and Hedges Street. Can anyone comment if the place is safe to live? I google on Trulia, and saw some robbery crimes in recent years. But when we visit, we feel it is fine. I would like to hear some local people to comment on it. Thanks.

We lives in north Jersey. When I say robbery crimes on Trulia, I did not mean the crime happened on the street -hedges. but nearby.

I would go there at night. During the day most dangerous cities can feel safe. It's the night time that will tell. Plus you'll find out if the neighborhood is excessively loud, which is what I discovered after buying in Piscataway.

Livingston Ave is a long and major road, but it is not obviously dangerous in any way.
That area near Hedges St is predominantly Hispanic/Latin/Black population, if that means anything to you.

I don't know your situation, but I would try renting nearby before you considering buying. It's not like New Brunswick has a prestigious school system or anything...

That is true. But is it winter, I guess nobody on the street. I am not going to live there. I am buying for renting out. But everyone care about safety first when renting. So I would like find a place that is safe.
