Many people travel from all parts of the state to work in different areas.
How long is your commute ? Where do people commute to. How far would you commute to live in the neighborhood you feel is best to raise your kids?

depends on how much the job pays

thank goodness I'm not having kids, one less life restriction I won't have to concern myself with

bottom-line: max. commute = 1 hour each way, even if everything else was rosey. because that's 2 hrs. per day, which would be 10 hrs. per week, which would be 500 hrs. per year (given 2 weeks vacation), which would be ~21 days per year spent in my car

I hate commuting. I wont do more than 20 minutes each way. If I have to change jobs to somewhere further away I will move to avoid the commute.

I work 8 miles from my house; live in Lawrenceville and work in Princeton up Route 1. Sometimes it takes me 15 minutes...other times it takes me an hour to get to work. If I leave my office anytime after 4:30 it will take me 45 minutes (maybe more depending) to get home...plus then I have to get to the daycare and pick up my daughter.

I used to work in Pennsauken which is about 45 miles away...it took me 45 minutes to get there.

I would commute 45 minutes to an hour to live where I feel is best for my kids...but if I'm only 8 miles away and it takes me that long sometimes I don't think I can move much further.

lake Hopatcong to West Caldwell..about 40 minutes providing it is not raining, snowing, no accidents on rte 80 and in the AM the sun glare is minimal...I've spent upwards of 2 plus hours getting home if a bad accident on 80

I would bet the average in NJ is an hour, or more.
I used to commute an hour each way, although some days it took 1 hour 30 minutes to get home. My husband spends just over an hour each way.

Hey Kate,

Where in West Caldwell do you work? I lived 12 years in West Caldwell, from age 7 to 19, my 'formidable years'. I still have many friends there.
