Old Bridge west of Rt 9 (for sale, houses, neighborhood)

I keep reading on the forum here to stay east of Rt 9 and that the area west of there is "undesirable". Can anyone elaborate on this? I drove by a neighborhood the other day and it seemed nice enough. The stores on 516 were older and a little run down, but I didn't see much improvement as I headed east. The residential blocks themselves seemed nice, tree lined, spacious houses. There are a couple of houses for sale on Cindy St. off 516. It's west of 9 and north of 18. Any thoughts on this area?

That area is a little more congested as its close to Route 9 and generally considered an a middle older part of OB.

But nothing really wrong with it.

This neighborhood is west of Route 9 and is very nice - much nicer than some areas of town east of Route 9 I could mention.
