Default Best Healthclubs NYC/NJ??

I am moving from Atlanta to the NY area - commuting from Jersey. I love my health club in Atlanta and while I know there are a ton of clubs up there - I would love to hear from some women on the board about health clubs they like in the city as well as in Essex/Hudson counties. I specifically eed to find a club that has step aerobics as I know step has been phased out in much of the NY area as I've seen by reading schedules for Equinox and NYSC.

Thanks!!

Trinity, there are a variety of clubs here from the basic no-frills gyms like Bally's to the more high end ones like Equinox. What's your budget and needs in a club? Will you be using the one in the city or in Jersey? There are some that exist only in NY. Will you need the pool, free towels, etc.? Depending on your answer I could probably recommend the one closest to your needs.

I have joined several in the city including Bally's, YMCA, NY Sports Club and NY Health & Racquet Club.

I'm not a woman, but I like LA Sports Club in NYC. It's pricey but pretty upscale. Better than Equinox IMHO. It's not uncommon to see celebrities working out there.

But if you are going to be using different locations, NYSC might be more convenient as there are a lot of locations in NY and NJ. The NYSC I use in Essex County still has plenty of step classes. I have not heard of them "phasing it out".

I am an aerobics instructor so I'll probably end up teaching so I can get a free membership. So based on that I can go just about anywhere. Having dual availability in NY and NJ is nice. My health club has locations in GA, FL and CA so traveling and working out is nice!

Gold's Gym is great! And there are quite a few scattered across NJ.
