But it is very hard to guarantee that you will always be friends with your neighbors in any town. Especially in a wealthy/upper middle class town that your price range will buy you. For that, you really need to buy a house next to your friends or family.
So true-- there are no guarantees in life! I have visited friends in maplewood nj who had incredible neighbors and I loved that. H oping for same!,

Look at NJ transit Train in Bergen County and see the towns with the train stop. Best bet.

When you say close enough to drive to nyc - do you mean on a daily basis, as in commute to/from work? (and if either, then what part of the city). Or do you mean to drive in occasionally for dinner or touristing.

I shouldn't be contributing to a zombie thread, but to the OP's point of Cresskill being half-Korean - you do realize the Northern Valley area (Tenafly, Cresskill, Demarest, Closter, Norwood, Northvale, Old Tappan, Harrington Park) is nearly 25% Korean and increasing? It has the 3rd largest Korean community in the country outside of LA and the Fort Lee/Pal Park area.

The Ridgewood/Glen Rock area also has a smaller, yet growing Korean population as well (schools are around 12%, doubled in the last 5 years).

All in - not sure why you're worried about "fitting in". Honestly, it just sounds like you're uncomfortable around or having your kids befriend Asians.
