Defineatly not Pillipsburg with Kids. It has alot of crime issues..drugs, etc. My favorite site is gsmls.com - you can also find rentals on there. I believe Countryside Apts. in Hackettstown may be in your price range? And the kids will love seeing the M&M factory right across the street - they do a huge easter egg hunt each year and a spring fair type thing...good starter town for a young family : )))

Phillipsburg seems to get a very bad rap around here, but I have been living here for almost 3 years and never had a problem. The schools aren't the absolute best in NJ, but they aren't bad either. The teachers are very committed and they do involve the parents in everything.

Shoot, I was raised in NYC, so to me the schools are good and the crime is virtually non-existent, hehe.

It's sad, because this town has so much potential. If you talk to the regular townies that grew up around here, they'll tell you it was a great place to live, but the recent transplants from other crime-ridden areas are moving in, and that is what's bringing this town down.

Also, you have other surrounding areas that are nicer, like Lopatcong, Pohatcong, Alpha and Greenwich. They're pricer, though.

Good luck on your search!

I've always said that PBurg has the potential to be the Hoboken of the West... it is a very cute town and would be even nicer if it gets cleaned up.

I agree. Hopefully someday that'll happen. I heard Ingersoll-Rand is considering reopening here, and that'll mean more jobs, which will hopefully give the area the boost is so desperatly needs.

It's a nice thought, but probably 50 years away. There are some happening night spots and good restaurants across the bridge in Easton.

Brooklyn has more sex offenders than P'Burg, naturally, since it's a major borough in NYC. Hell, most of NYS does because of the many prisons up there.
How do I know? I'm from Brooklyn, born and raised. I know Brooklyn. It's not all that, trust me.

Now, if you go just over the bridge to Easton, PA there are a ton of sex offenders, much more than P'Burg, which is probably where they're coming from. The city of Easton, I mean.

That being said, I love Palmer Township. My father and stepmother live there now and they really like it. I would love to move there one day, if my husband doesn't mind the extra 10 minute commute, heh.

If you must live in that area at least live in Lopatcong which is better than P-burg. I'm not a big fan of Warren County in general though there is some nice country scenery out there, especially Blairstown to the north.
