If you can afford it, the Vitamix is probably better. I have the Nutribullet Pro (900 Watt) and love it. I can put Kale in there, and there's no bits left. I use it for everything, but mostly morning smoothies.

I'd also recommend the Vitamix. They're very expensive but I got one refurbished at a great discount. I make green smoothies and hot soups with it.

Check out Blendtec as well, we just picked up the 625 model from Bed Bath & Beyond using the 20% off coupon you often find in the mail.

The general consensus is that Vitamix and Blendtec are the top 2 manufacturers when it comes to blenders. Vitamix has the more storied history (Blendtec has been around only 15-20 yrs), but Blendtec is more modern when it comes to technology (presets for smoothie, soup, ice cream, capacitative touch screen). They made their name from the "Will It Blend" Youtube videos posted by their founder that showed him blending items such as iPhones and golf balls.

Both make top notch, high quality, powerful blenders with unparalleled 8yr warranties that are very well honored, you can't go wrong with either manufacturer.

We chose the Blendtec because it is not as tall (fits under our cabinets on the countertop), and we could get the latest model from BB&B, which has a return policy that is almost, if not as generous as Costco's, at a 20% discount. BB&B does not sell the Vitamix (Costco does).

You can get a refurbished Blendtec at a steep discount because the company came out w/ new models in 2014. If purchased from their website or an authorized retailer (Walmart sells the formerly $400 classic Blendtec for $250), the refurbished models come with a 7yr warranty, which is fantastic. I couldn't help going for the latest and greatest though.

Not sure about Nutrabullet, but did hear good things about Ninja and Breville. They are not in the same category as Blendtec and Vitamix though in my opinion.

I have the nutribullet for smoothies. You can do more with vitamix - so really, the question is - what do you want to use it for? We've been making smoothies daily with the nutribullet, and it works on everything we've put in there. if something like carrots are too hard, heat them up in the microwave to soften them up - no problem.

Blendtec or Vitamix - you cannot go wrong with either.

If you wait for the right deals, you can get a refurb Blendtec for under $200 and a new for under $350.

I use vitamix because it has a hole on the top that let you use a their stick to push food downwards when it is not going down. It is safe because the stick will never reach the blades. Blendtec I would have to be extra careful to put a spatula down, these blades will break anything.

With Blendtec you don't have to use the spatula as the jar is designed in a way that it pushes the food down.
