Question Commute from Boonton to Newark - traffic on 280W

I posted today on Boonton so I appreciate any responses to that.

Can someone tell me what the commute is like from Boonton to Newark? We would be driving 287 south to 80 west to 280 west at roughly 8am and back at 5pm. Mapquest says it is 28 minutes.

How bad is the traffic on 287 south and 280 west?

Thank you.

I think you mean 80 EAST to 280 EAST.

I can tell you about 280 at that time. There will be stop and go traffic as you approach Newark and the Stickle Bridge. If you enter Newark on the first street exit, it will not be so bad. Just stay in the far left lane until the split, and you will be fine most days.

If you need to get off in Newark AFTER the split, you will be sitting in traffic every day.

Coming home, if you hit traffic, it will be at when 280 turns from 3 lanes into 2. It's only bad some days at 5. It get's worse a little later.

Default clarification to 280 East to Newark ? from Boonton

Thank you. You are correct. I did mean to write 287 south to 80 east to 280 east to Newark.

Thank you for your opinion.

I am not sure what exit my husband would be getting off of for Newark. He would be driving to Halsey Street off of Broad St if that helps (kind of near the Broad St Station and Washington St).

Thanks.
