I am trying to buy a house with a budget of 750K. Looking for 4+ bedroom and 3+ bath . Good school district is very important, next comes closeness to the Newark airport. Although I am travelling now, in the future I might look for the jobs in NYC so its ideal to have the option of taking a train with decent commute time (< 1hr).
Same, not many choices in houses as well as no good high school. I am looking for good elementary, middle and high schools in one place because I do not plan on moving again anytime sooner. So I will consider any upcoming towns which has the great potential/future as well.
Thanks
If you don't like the housing supply in Madison or Millburn, but Madison HS isn't good enough for you then you're SOL in NJ.
In towns (esp north Jersey) where schools are tops (which Madison is btw) housing stock at 750 won't get you anything too fancy - esp if you are coming from another part of the country. And if Madison schools aren't good enough for you then you won't like any town where you can get a McMansion for 750K.
Also confused that you want top schools but also will consider up and coming towns??
Maybe try Edison -might get a bit more bang for your buck there- just stick to north Edison school district.
Thanks Metsfan53. what I meant was up coming towns with good schools. (may be its a contradictory statement anyways )
Currently I live in north Edison and I do not like the fact of non-diversity in schools so I am trying to move out. I might consider moving up my budget up to 850-900K only if I am getting the best schools for my buck because I have 3 children with eldest being ready for the schools.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is the better the schools the worse the house....You have a strong budget but in many towns with top schools even that won't get you a great house with 4BR 3+ Bath.
What is your cut-off for schools if Madison wasn't up to snuf? Madison HS is ranked in top 30 usually which is excellent -esp in considering NJ schools are top notch to begin with. Knowing your cut-off point for schools will help- but you must remember in the usual list of top 15-20 schools or so even 900K won't get you a huge house.
The New Providence suggestion was a good one - HS was ranked # 1 last year and you can get a nice house on that budget- it's an older housing stock with higher taxes- but still doable. Same with Berkley Heights and Mountainside. Chatham as well. Not sure how much it would stretch your commute but West Windsor,Cranbury, Plainsboro are worth a look- but with somewhat similar demographics to Edison. You can also check Holmdel and Rumson (won't get much in Rumson but lower taxes would possibly allow you to up budget more).
