We are looking to move this summer but the inventory does not seem great in our price range. We are considering the following towns: Woodcliff Lake, Old Tappan, Haworth, Park Ridge and Oradell. We have two daughters in elementary school so schools need to be very good. I believe any of these towns would suffice in this domain, however just wondering if anyone has insight into these areas in terms of community activities - camps, pool clubs, recreational stuff or just quirks/flavor of certain times. We're pretty liberal and down to earth so don't want to be anywhere too snobby or conservative. Thanks!

Woodcliff Lake and Old Tappan are wealthier than Haworth, Park Ridge and Oradell, so they will like be more snobby. IMO snob factor depends more on the company you keep than the town you live in.

All of these towns have strong schools and rec options.

They're good towns with good schools. Vary from upper-middle class to wealthy.

I personally like Park Ridge the best between your choices. Less snob factor. Has a town pool and good sports programs. Schools are highly rated. Having the train in town is convenient too. Property taxes aren't as crazy as those other towns. They have their own power and water company too which saves money. There are also some good restaurants in town.

Where are you getting the tax info? If anything, Old Tappan has a lower effective tax rate than Park Ridge.
