Branchburg is just west of Bridgewater, is a little less crowded and more rural. No one raves about their school system, but it's certainly better than many in NJ.
Bridgewater schools are going to rank & score well above the others on that list. I live in the Martinsville section of Bridgewater, and I happen to thinnk it's the most desirable town on the list in most respects.
Bound Brook is famous for flooding. Thre are some areas, however, that are simply too high and too far from the Brook to be a flood problem.
South Bound Brook is on slightly higher ground, and has much fewer flood issues. The town has undergone a resurgance recently, spurred by the tearing down of an old warehouse on the canal to build new townhouses, along with a downtown beautification program including new sidewalks, storefronts, lights etc.
North Plainfield is the furthest east, so would be more convenient for commuting to NYC. To Morris Plains, however, not particularly easy. It's probably the most congested & crowded of the towns you listed.
Manville is s tiny little town, really just a few houses surrounding the main street. Small, older homes on small lots.
Rocky Hill is the furthest south, and will likely take you an hour or more to get to Morris Plains if you are going during or near rush hour. It's also the most rural of the towns you listed.

If you are looking at those towns, you might also consider Green Brook, Somerville & Raritan Boro, in Somerset County, and Long Hill Township (which is broken into three towns whose names are better known; Gillette, Stirling, and Millington) in Morris County.

Bridgewater is a great area! Almost every town in NJ has some floos area, as does Bridgewater, but there are very nice areas here where you can purchase a home for in your price range.

Bridgewater is fine. I would shy away from the rest of the towns, for many reasons. You've listed some MAJOR FLOOD areas, and some less than desirable neighborhoods can be found in some of these towns too - be careful!

why would you tell the OP to shy away from Chatham, Madison, Mendham, Chester, Long valley and Randolph and East Hanover/Whippany?
