As stated above have a 2.5 yr old kid... so looking to stay near a good neighbourhood having families with young kids , close to parks and groceries.

in Jersey City, you can also look at two residential areas by Route 440, Society Hill [a nice gated community] and Country Village [a nice family neighborhood]. Shopping and public transit are near by. Commute to work would be 60 mins. from door to door.

It's pretty hard to be anywhere in NJ and not be near at least one grocery store, so don't worry about that!

Technically; there's a preschool and it meets the commute requirements. But the train station in Secaucus has the NJ Turnpike on one side and a warehouse district on another. The apartment complex there is thus pretty cut off from everything else; about all it does have going for it is proximity to the train.
