Just curious to get some resident feedback on Myrtle Avenue (Madison).
My family is looking to buy a house in Madison and we are looking at several neighborhoods including Knollwood and Fairwood. We are less familiar with the Myrtle neighborhood and have some concerns since it seems to be a street with many rentals nearby. Any feedback on this neighborhood is appreciated.

I'm familiar with Madison only as a frequent visitor...since childhood...so I kind of feel like I know the town pretty well, however I am not a resident.

Given the 3 streets you listed...Myrtle Ave, Knollwood Ave, and Fairwood Rd...my personal preference would be for Knollwood, then Fairwood 2nd, and then Myrtle 3rd.

I think the many rentals you are talking about near Myrtle are on North St.? Yeah, I guess that's not the most typically Madison-esque, scenically charming street in Madison....but, I mean, it's Madison. I hardly think you'd have anything to worry about. And that whole Chateau Thierry area is luxury townhouses (and it provides a nice buffer against that big corporate park/Jets training center area). My issue with Myrtle wouldn't be the rentals near by, it would be the municipal ball fields on that street...I would think that would make for extra noise & traffic that the other 2 streets you listed don't have.

Between Knollwood and Fairwood, I would prefer Knollwood because Fairwood has the train tracks behind it. However, that may be a total non issue...from what I can tell from having been through that area on foot, the train tracks are downhill a ways from the actual street.
