You will also want to check the schedule of Red Bulls games. On game days, not only will the garage be full, but there is little -to- no street parking allowed near the PATH station
Good point. It's a zoo any day there is a game. I'd recommend coming into the Ironbound and parking on some side streets when there is a game.. You'll be fine there.
FYI keep this area the blocks around here as a backup Plan B. I've parked weekday nights there on my way to the big Yapple,,, should be good on Saturdays and no stadium there to worry about.
My husband used to park at LAZ Parking - Harrison Parking Center when he was commuting by car&PATH. May be too expensive for what you're looking for though.
Check Bergen street, Sussex street, warren street. You need to walk a bit, but not bad at all. Don't park on Harrison Ave or Frank E Rogers, the main streets have much stricter parking rules nowadays

Good point. When I had a car, I parked in the LAZ garage. This was (about a year ago). It was $260/month. If you want to guarantee yourself a spot in the garage then you can buy a pass. However, that still won't save you from the traffic nightmare of actually GETTING TO (or, out of) the garage on gamedays. Have you considered stopping farther east in NJ and then taking NJ transit train to NY Penn Station, and then taking the subway down to NYU. It may not save you much in terms of time, but you will be able to get more accomplished (e.g., reading, studying) than you will while driving.
He's just going in on Saturdays for some college class, not Mon-Fri commuting.
I haven't hit that area in a while but between side streets in Harrison and def side streets on the east side of Newark Penn station which is the first PATH station anyway, should find something free. Just check all the signs and don't leave anything worth someone breaking your windows for inside.
