This is the problem with people here. Newark certainly isn't the safest city in the country (9th percentile), but it's more in line with something like Chicago (10th percentile) than someplace like St. Louis (1%), Detroit (2%) or Baltimore (3%).
Heck, I grew up in Phoenix. That's at 10th percentile these days. So Newark, slightly more dangerous than Phoenix.
So you own Lancers Bar? I'd say businesses like your feed into the problem. You come here to make your $$ and run away. You care less about the community. What positive influence have you had here?

As of Sept. 6, there had been 218 total shooting incidents in Newark, a 22-percent increase from where the total stood at the same point in 2014, according to police records obtained by NJ Advance Media.
