I'm looking for a 2br condo for around 300,000 (or less). I work in Fair Lawn and would like to stay relatively close. I'm 25 and so would like a town with a younger vibe. And I have a dog and am also looking for a pet-friendly complex. I found a few in Clifton that I'm looking into but I'm not sure about the area. Anyone have any advice on decent but affordable towns in the area? Thanks so much!

Clifton is fine, and certainly "decent." I've lived here for four years, after growing up in Virginia, but my extended family has been here more than 50 years.

Where in town were the $300K condos? The Lakeview section is more affordable than (but not as nice as) Allwood or the neighborhoods along Valley Road.

I'm also 25 and bought a house in the "Clifton Center" section. I wouldn't say the town has a young vibe, but then, that wasn't something I was looking for. Now that prices have fallen/stabilized, you should have plenty of choices in the area.

Clifton is just fine. I don't think its the best town for schools and kids but it sounds good for your situation. Rutherford and East Rutherford would also be good, but I'd bet they're more money now that they have blue ribbon school districts.
