Water isn't a scarce resource, period. It's scarce in certain places at certain times. The amount of water on the planet is constant.

I already stated that I am not taking this drought seriously, so i am not changing water habits. Although I don't waste allot of water.

We have high humidity, it makes it's way into soil and keeps plants growing. This time of year is typically like this.

Dear people of the east coast worrying about a drought: Y'all will be fine! When NJ is in an ACTUAL drought, then the whole west is screwed.

I have heard that as well, but I water in the middle of the night anyway. Sprinklers are set for 2AM. I need all the zones to be done by the time I take a shower at 5AM. When the summer started looking dry, my town sent out a letter to restrict watering to every other day. Even numbered houses on even days, odd numbered houses on odd days.

I am guilty. No wonder my neighbors giving me nasty looks that my lawn look so green. I will water once every 3 days now. Thanks for your suggestions.

my neighbors lawns who have sprinklers are all pristine green, i have a hose and a sprinkler head and its a PITA to setup, move it, set up, move it, etc . takes hours to water my lawn properly. i've probably done it 3-4 times this year so far compared to the folks who have legit in ground systems watering every day. my lawn is brown/yellow and i stopped caring for the most part. i only make sure to water a new tree i planted a few times a week.

The only thing green in my area are weeds. All grasses are pretty much yellow.

I am an avid gardener so I pay plenty of attention to the weather forecast. To the best of my knowledge NJ is not in a drought, but it has been dry. The pattern should correct itself going into the fall, they're even predicting rain for the next two days.
