areas within warren
Have been trying to determine where to buy a home. Have two young children age 1 and 4. We spent this past weekend driving through Warren and just loved it. Our favorite developments were GreenBrook Meadows and Top of the World. The feel of these large developments were great and seemed to be ideal places to have the children make lots of friends. We also drove through some smaller subdivisions like Sycamour estates, Appletree Lane, Alana Court and Heather Lane. Wanted to know if people know these areas and whether there are pluses and minuses to any of them. Also which elementary schools would they include. thanks

Pretty easy to figure out the new money are in the McMansions and the old money, long time residents are in the older established developments.Your going to have a hard time finding a bad neighborhood in Warren.

Alana Court is all the way down Mountain Ave, and away from the major highways..not sure if you would like that long drive just to get to 78 or 287. Heather is Lane is nice, but a lot of the houses I noticed are contemporary. GreenBrook Meadows is a development, I forget if they have 2 or 3 car garages (houses here used to sell for 700k in early 2000, not quite sure how much they are now.) Top of the World is similar to Green Brook Meadows, but I believe you have bigger lots.

Most of Warren is going to be pretty nice, and the developments you name are certainly no exception. (It's GreenWOOD Meadows, by the way.) Greenwood Meadows is the farthest west, so it will have a slightly longer commute than the others if you are going east, such as to NYC. There are several grade schools in Warren, all of which are very good. Check out School Reports for details. Also, did you drive through Brookside Manor? I don't know your price range at all, but that's very very nice, if a little more expensive than some of the others.

thanks for the responses. Could not find Brookside Manor - what are the major streets within that development. Our price range is less than 1 million but preferably between 800-900K.

All of these developments are very, very nice! Greenwood Meadows is a beautiful development, you can get more land than some of the others, but it is the furthest from the center of town.
The elementary school are: Angelo L. Tomaso, Central Elementary, Mt. Horeb, and Woodland Elementary. I never tell anyone which school they will attend, because at times, a town will redistrict. The best thing for you to do is to contact Warren Twp. Warren Township, New Jersey, 07059, and ask them which developments go to which schools.

Brookside Manor is going to be above that price point. But the streets would be Strawberry Lane and Rasberry Trail.
As I know the area quite well.

I live in Top of The World in Green Brook, can't say enough great things about the neighborhood! Very close, down to earth people. Would'nt leave this neighborhood for all the money in the world - most of the people that live in this development feel the same way! Love the town, beautiful place to live!

Since you seem to have decided on Warren but not which section I suggest you get a Twp. map of Warren and check out all the sections by riding thru the neighborhoods and seeing what you like and don't like about each.
You are not going to get objective opinions by those people who have already bought. Nobody ever wants to admit they made a mistake in their purchase.
While touring consider such things like.Do I want to live on a very steep hill? Do I want to compete in the very expensive "landscape competition"?(Warren has more full time landscapers than most towns in this area)Do I want to live near to one of the still active livestock farms?(yes there is a pig farm in Warren)
Do your homework (road work) and you will find the perfect house in Warren.
Good luck,
E

Hi Cool-Breeze, did you find your home in Warren? I live there myself and am familiar with the neighborhoods that caught your eye. Greenwood Meadows is the quintessential neighborhood in town - prices have come down there as they have across the board so if you haven't bought, you'll be pleased with the price movement. Most of Greenwood Meadows feeds into Mt. Horeb Elementary School - some flows into ALT - with all the building over the years, they had to do some reshuffling. The neighborhood closer to town (Appletree) has smaller homes generally on smaller lots. Sycamore Estates off of Washington Valley Road is very nice as well - there are several homes on the market there now. Heather Lane also very nice, homes are a little older and depending on where you are siutated, 78 can be close.
If you are here in town, I hope you are enjoying it. If not, there are some great homes to choose from.
