Do you mean the little town at the far Southern end of NJ?
I believe there aren't even 1,000 in that town and, to be quite honest, I have never known of anyone from there.

If you're talking about Newport in Deep South Jersey, it's about as boondocks as you can get. Which isn't a bad thing, in my opinion.
If you're talking about another Newport, I can't help you much. Anything north of Voorhees is another state to me.

Hi simplytrish, Well I just happen to live in Newport NJ...the boonedock one...lol...yes, it is very peaceful and quiet. We're a very little town with no traffic lights, two caution lights, a little post office where you will get friendly help, a little country store where you can get a quick take out meal or pick up a needed staple and one little gas station where the owner is the one who pumps your gas and washes your windshield for you while you fill up....now how's that for service?....just a few miles away you can go crabbing or fishing or take a boat ride.....it's a very laid back place to live. It is quite a little drive to town when you need to get to work or a store but well worth the drive for the peacefulness you get to come back to. Fortescue is just a few miles away which is a little fishing village where you can go on a chartered boat to fish or just throw a line out from the beach when it's low tide. Taxes have been going up, as I'm sure they do everywhere but seem to be cheaper then in the big towns nearby and much cheaper then north jersey. Homes are hard to come by though with very little rentals and only a few houses for sale at any one time. We have our own elementary school but children have to travel about an hour by bus to go to high school in another town.
Hope this helps.
Cindy
