Just curious. Would you or have you lived on a major road? I'm considering buying a house on a pretty major road but really concerned about pollution from cars & noise. The price is good because of the location but I fear I will regret it!

Never. I have a rule when looking for a house...if it has a double yellow stay away.

I would, and then I would do nothing but complain about the speed limit, traffic, and noise.

We looked at a place that was about 500 feet from Route 22. Amazing house, everything we were looking for and more and easily within our price range.

However, it was still too noisy when we went outside with cars going by at 65. I'm sure someone who didn't mind it as much got a great deal. If you're concerned about it you should get a lawn chair and go hang out on the sidewalk outside for half an hour and see how you feel.

Really depends on many factors, main factor is if I have kids or not.

Safety issues with kids chasing a ball and being hit by cars, drunk drivers crushing into the house, and road noise.

I always thought it would be a pain if you were having a party and people had nowhere to park.

Well this busy road is double lined but definitely not like Route 22.

haha I do like the idea of sitting out there for a bit to see what it's like!

I think it's mandatory no matter where the house is. You never know what it's going to actually be like until you swing by at 8PM on a Friday when everyone's home from work and find out Drunk Stanley is getting up to his old tricks and fighting with the windshield wipers on his car like he does every night.

If you have kids, I would not recommend it.
