Default Moving to Hoboken

Hi. I am 24 and currently live in the Upper East Side. I work in the Village and am looking to move to Hoboken with my boyfriend. First off I was wondering if anyone there has any advice. Do you like it? How is the commute? What are the benefits of Hoboken?

We are also unsure of where to rent. We want to get a 1 or 2 bedroom for around $2200. Ideally we want something nice and near the path. I would really like a washer/dryer in the unit (so it seems like a luxury building might be the best option). I will need to commute to the city everyday so proximity to the path is important. Some places I have read about are the Cliffs (new), The Shipyard, Hudson North etc. Does anyone know anything about these buildings or have any suggestions??

Hope to talk to you soon!!

For $2200, you definitely can find something with the amenities you are looking for. Did you check out apartmentratings.com? it offers reviews of rental units by residents. I think you'd like it in Hoboken. It's a communter town, but it has it's own character.

I don't know those buildings, but you're so close, why not just head over to Hoboken the next day you have off of work, start visiting the local real estate agents there (just walk the blocks near the PATH train--you'll see plenty of real estate places, especially on Washington), check out the stores, have lunch/dinner, etc. You'll get an idea of the PATH commute, too. It would be far better for you to actually check it out yourself--someone else can't give you what your subjective impression of those things is going to be. Spend some time hanging out there.

Check out 333 River St. Nice apartments next to the path, however may be expensive. Its located on the waterfront, and is upscale building. My friend lives there and loves it.
