We're looking to move in the spring and are exploring Wyckoff or Glen Rock. We currently live in Bergenfield. Would love anyone's input on these two towns that seem to be great (on paper). Would love some real insight into these towns specifically if you live here. I have heard Glen Rock is a great town, the families who live there love it! Is it close knit? I love the downtown area and see that you can walk from many of the streets nearby. We've been to some open houses and seems many homes are small (low ceilings in basement - husband is TALL!) and the taxes can be high. Wyckoff seems you get more house for your $, and the taxes are lower. But seems you have to drive everywhere. If you live in Wyckoff, how do you like that aspect? do you feel isolated? For both communities, do you enjoy your neighborhoods? We are looking for a neighborhood feel for our only child and hope to have a "community" where we next move. Schools certainly are a factor, not just for our son but for resale. Are they too competitive (I have heard that in some towns like Ridgewood they are too competitive). Thanks for any input!

I don't know that you could go wrong with either town. Wyckoff is on our short list for our next and hopefully forever house. The taxes in GR are just too high for us and we know they will only continue to go up. We have lots of friends there and they love it but we also have friends and family in Wyckoff and they are also very happy. The schools are very good in both towns and they are both great places to raise a family.
