You know why they were called Bennie's right? Because mainly the people who lived in the city would bring the "benjamins" (aka money) down the shore every summer and bring much ,much support to the seasonal business's !
Iv'e been to many "bye bye BENNIE"S" end of the summer parties.

Oh Wow...I love this thread.. I grew up in the Newark area (not IN newark but nearby) and so many of those phrases bring back such memories.

And it's TAYLOR HAM not pork roll...lol...

I could go for a taylor ham and cheese on a hard roll w/ketchup right about now....

I remember Woolco? or Woolworths and there was Modells in Mid State Mall shopping center, Rickles in EB, Two Guys in EB (omg I grew up in that store) and I remember Great Eastern but wasn't it a huge indoor flea market on Rt1?

Now it's the uber sized Movie theater Lowes but they still have the family plot surrounded by cement & iron fence in the back parking lot.
