I'm amazed at the wave of new game shows that require no other skill whatsoever except you showing up, i.e. "Deal or no deal". I mean all they're playing is a game of chance & percentages depending on how many cases there are left. Or "The Moment of truth" that advertises itself by the misery and pain the answers may inflict on the spouse/relatives of the contestant.

I agree. Other than Jeopardy-how much knowledge do you really need to be on a game show today? Even Millionaire is really not that difficult until maybe the 100,000 question and they give you lifelines. The gameshows today are really just reality shows.

As for the reason the line is slow, I can agree that sometimes it's the "shoppers" fault but most of the time, I find that it's the inept, lazy cashier. But the shopper always seems to get the blame. AT time I want to climb up on the conveyor belt and yell "It's NOT MY FAULT"
Nothing worse than getting in line only to see that poster with the little baby chicken on it - means the cashier is a trainee! We always do the bagging ourselves to try and speed things up. Those cashiers try to cram as much as they can into those cheap little plastic bags - buy the time you get home and unload, they always burst and there goes your 2 for 1 on the soda - down the driveway spraying all over your new car!

You have to try the self-checkout lines, Wiley. I never do it any other way.

I'm a little intimidated by those self checkout lines... plus most announce what it is that you are scanning! "Preporation H...2.99"... "Tampax...4.99"... You have to keep your head down as you are scanning because everyone in the store now knows you aren't having a very good week!

I am trying to think of the 'male equivalent' to the mentioned items, and I have to say I've never thought of that. There is no male equivalent. Well, actually, there's one, but that was a long, long time ago.

I see your point, Wiley.
