Now that we live in NC, the "Jersey-isms" are even more noticeable. In fact, that's how you can figure out if someone else is from Jersey too.
I heard some lady in a restaurant yesterday starting a story with: "I'm tellin' ya' she's a friggin nutcase..." ---definitely from Jersey
"Where do youse buy Taylor Ham?" ---definitely from Jersey
A mom in a store (surrounded by Southerners): "JOEY, YOU AND YOUR BROTHA GET OVA HEEERE!!! YOU'RE ACTING LIKE YOUR SISTA"---definitely from Jersey (Or possibly Staatn Eyelind).
Then when you figure out that someone is from New Jersey, the conversation goes something like this:
"You from Jersey? I'm from Jersey! Where? What exit? Where can I find a friggin' decent bagel around here? These friggin' wing-nuts don't know how to make decent pizza, someone should open a Diner, etc, etc..."

I guess you must have gotten all of the hard-core North Jerseyans up there in NC- the people that I've met in GA who are from NJ don't stick out in the crowd like that.....lol.

Well, of course not EVERYONE from New Jersey talks like that, but those that do, stick out like a sore thumb. Even someone who has just a slight Jersey accent, talks loudly, or uses "Jersey-isms" will be noticeable in a crowd of Southerners.
And no, not everyone is "hard-core" Jersey. But I love hearing "Jersey-speak" every once in a while.
