Turn on the radio and see if they're reporting an accident on the Parkway. What is GOING ON here?????
I'm gonna get off at the next exit, even though I don't know where exactly it will take me. I can't stay in this traffic any longer.
CAWFEE!
Diners. All of life's problems can get fixed in a long diner visit. The one where you feel bad because you took up the table for too long, but can't seem to leave.
"Who's next? Next?? Next???" (local bagel shop.)
You get to watch planes take off from IKEA.
If you can figure out the loop-de-loops to GET to IKEA.
Just honk your horn and go!!!!!!!!!! Your money just didn't register. It's okay to move on. THe sign says so.
There's always a buttered roll to grab if you're super late.
The smell of cotton candy and sausage and peppers on the Boardwalk.
Those custard ice cream stands on the boardwalk.
The "Don't even waste your money" on the now very expensive games on the Boardwalk that you can NEVER win, unless you're like Superman.
Always take the local lanes.
Just drive 5 minutes in any direction and you'll find a CVS. Never fear.

We still can get excited about Frank Sinatra's "NY, NY" and somehow feel very connected to Billy Joel's "NY State of Mind."
We get to see the NYC Skyline. Many of us often.
We have enough Targets and Wal-Marts to take our pick of which one we want to go to today.
And, sorry, but yes, we can tell where a person lives by hearing their exit. If someone says, "Exit 10 off the Turnpike," yep, I know about where you are. I know how far you are from me. And your general vicinity. You don't have to describe routes and what it's near. "Oh, Exit 10, okay..."

I'm going to have to say a few Our Father's and Hail Mary's for this but-
"Mary on the half-shell"
referring to the statues of Mary with that half-casing made of concrete behind her on the lawns of many homes

Mischief Night
Pork Roll. BTW, no one in NYC knows WTF Pork Roll is. I was working an all nighter a few years ago and sent one of my guys out to get me a Pork Roll, Egg and Cheese. He came back 45 minutes later, sad and tired because he went to like 10 Deli's and no one knew WTF he was talking about. lol.
