Just don't stand by the windows in the rear of the buildings when you get done at the juice bar. The bloods and crips were getting it on last week in the Montgomery Projects and let go over 50 rounds with 3 people shot and 1 killed and over 40 shots were not found only the shell casings.

JM, you are speaking in "Truths". These people want fantasies.

For the poster who loves their valet service..
I have a place I park my car too...it is called a garage, and it is wrapped around by an acre of land with flowers, shrubs and trees.

Hey klgm, I thought that JC was safe.

I never ONCE claimed that ALL of JC is safe...nor would I live in ALL parts of JC..I speak the truth about places that I go on a regular basis. You however ATTEMPT to discuss places that are no where near where you live??? How does that make sense? People like you belong in the suburbs.

I was in JC the other day...St John's Apartments.
I stopped by White Castle to get a gourmet pulled pork sandwich.
Drove thru Journal Square.
Down Newark Ave.
I actually was stuck at a red light in front of the Beacon.

You could have all of it...<belch> including the pulled pork sandwich.

BTW, thanks for the rule according to you..."no one is allowed to discuss a place where they do not live".

Default bullets flying?

These negative comments just goes to show how unaware of the layout of the Beacon Complex most posters here actually are, even those that have lived in Jersey City for a while. First, the Beacon is on a steep incline, that is, the buildings foundations don't even start until you are about 8 stories above the ground level of the Montgomery Projects. Second, there are still unoccupied and as yet unrenovated buildings between us and the projects, not to mention an apartment building that was part of the hospital, but was turned into apartments prior to the Beacon project. So the idea that we would even be aware of goings on at the projects, much less in danger by anything that happened there is really a reach. This past weekend the historical society did a tour, as one of the members was leaving he said to his companion, "Must be nice to have money." And on Monday the Beacon was on a NJ program called "Our Vanishing Heritage" about how it is one of the few success stories of preservation in NJ against a backdrop of decay and neglect of the states rich historical sites. This is just one of the many TV shows, commercials (watch for the verison ad) and music videos that have been filmed there in the last 10 months. Unfortunately, nobody wants to take a picture, or make a music video, of where you live. Too bad.

Unfortunately, there is crime everywhere, even in the most exclusive towns and neighborhoods. The Beacon (Medical Center) is a beautiful set of buildings. I am glad they weren't torn down. Enjoy your new homes!
Curious, is there a Greek or Orthodox church in that neighborhood?

I'm surprised by all the silly posts in here. First off, who eats at White Castle? Yuck. There's so much better food available.

Secondly, I live in Boston, we have several neighborhoods where condos sit next to public housing projects, and the real estate still commands a premium. I actually think it's good. Instead of warehousing poor people in isolated ghettos, there's a chance for people of different races and economic levels to mix. Perhaps the affluent people will patronize local stores, helping local business owners, and in turn creating jobs.

Hey everyone
I was thinking of buying a one-bedroom apartment in the beacon and was wondering what the price was. I know that it obviously varies according to the view and floor, but simply wanted to know what the range was.

Thanks for your help.

Default Price range of 1 bedroom at the Beacon

You can possibly get a one bedroom from between 340,000 to 370,000 depending on size and view, but to get actual pricing you should go to thebeaconjc.com web site and make a formal inquiry. I'm not a realtor, so I can't give you definitive information. I know that there was a possibility of doing a rent to own option at one point that may still be available, but contact the sales office for accurate information.
