Let them come see people loitering, playing loud music, selling dope, trash in the streets,no parking, trust me for that amount $$$$ of money who in their right mind wants to see that, D-rat if you can bless them with some pics that would help alot.

That was actually my plan early this morning--to start with the Beacon and walk the blocks surrounding it, taking photos . . . but, oy, the weather. I'm not walking around in the snow/slushy rain if I do not have to. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Just checked the weather, if it's correct, it looks like I may have to wait until Thursday . . . it doesn't say exactly when it's supposed to rain tomorrow, but it says 60% chance, and "rain and wind" for Wednesday.

Yeah, I was actually going to try to "map the streets" from photos, meaning to take everything--building(s) to building(s), etc. I'll probably only have time for a few blocks a session, but that would help.

Make sure you take the photos of Montgomery and Booker T projects when the bloods are killing each other and the stray shots strike innocent victims. Better yet wait for the first warm Friday night when gangs of 200-300 gang members are fighting with the entire police dept. thats on duty and working. Give me a break 3/4 million to live next to gang bangers. Photos in the day time in the middle of the winter don't show an accurate account. Take some on the hot summer Friday nights for the true feel.

dawncampbell is on a distinguished road
Well I certainly appreciate everyone's opinions although I didn't mean to start a war here. If I can just say, we currently live in London but we are Americans having lived everywhere from Wilmington, DE, Chicago, etc....so I'm quite aware of living in a city. That being said, I certainly have been scared off of the Beacon, but would welcome some ideas on renting anywhere in Jersey with an hour or less commute to Manhattan.

We are completely open to where we live, looking for a 1-2 bed w/parking that will accept our two dogs for $2000-$2500. If anyone can provide some ideas, I would appreciate it.

I could be waiting forever for that--which is just the point. It ain't likely to happen. So you're likely to be safe there.

I mentioned that the OP (and others) needs facts. So how bout this, BsMan, tell us:

(1) how often bloods are killing each other there and stray bullets kill innocent victims, with citations for the incidents, please
(2) how many potential victims were in the area total versus how many were actual victims, again with a citation to the survey(s),
(3) how many potential and actual victims were in the area versus how many nearby could have been in the area, with a citation to the survey(s),
(4) details of the study that tell us the motivations for all of the incidents in (1) (the motivations for the shootings that lead to the stray bullets), the time of day and circumstances under which they happened (including where the victim was, what they were doing), etc., and
(5) The study that details the current demographics of bloods and potential innocent victims in the area against the historical incidents.

Only that information could enable us to give someone anything like a legitimate probability for their safety relative to that concern (being a victim of a stray bullet in gang violence).

Could you give some citations for these incidents? It should be easy since it's so common, right? Are you claiming that the OP will be perfectly safe in the Beacon area at particular times of the year, particular days of the week and particular times of day? I'd like to hear you actually say that. You should have told the poster that in the first place, if that's your belief.

When warmer weather gets here, I'll undertake your request for you on a Friday night. And then we'll hear your excuse for why it was safe that particular warm Friday night.

Smart move Dawn, there are plenty of other safer areas in JC down along the waterfront area that are walkable to the path station that I would live at and recommend to others but the area of the Beacon would not be on that list, sorry.

Rat if you like to live next to gang bangers go for it. We had 4 citywide assists down to the projects to quell the turmoil last summer that ensued from them knuckleheads shooting at each other. If you enjoy living like that go get an apartment right in the middle of Booker T (enjoy). I'm done debating(again).

I'm not asking you to debate. I'm asking you to provide the facts that I requested.

I'm also asking you to answer whether someone is perfectly safe in the area during particular seasons, days of the week, times of day, etc. You ignored that part.

From the answer you just gave, by the way, I have to assume that the answer to (1) above is "never".
