"The Shore" is a region, I don't think the town has to physically touch the Atlantic to be a "Shore Point". Using the above definition, Point Pleasant is NOT a shore point, the borough of Pt Pleasant never touches the ocean. ( Point Pleasant Beach touches the Atlantic) BTW Middletown Township DOES touch the Atlantic, Sandy Hook is part of Middletown Township.

I am not in a shore town. I'm about five miles inland, but to my family in North Jersey, I live by the shore.
That's how i took it as well.

Agreed- I didn't throw something like Manalapan into the discussion. And agree-d Middletown does touch the ocean. does touching one of the Rivers count?

My rule of thumb is for Monmouth down to Cape May Counties, if you are east of the Parkway, it's Shore territory.

I think that's a good rule. And made me remember--when I first moved to Monmouth County five years ago and would drive around finding my way to garage sales and whatnot, I never panicked when I got lost because I knew that the Atlantic was on one side of me and the Parkway on the other, and so sooner or later I would come to a road I knew. It always worked out.

The state tourism regions count "The Shore" as all of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Its all relative. I grew up in Pt Pleasant Beach, so if you weren't on the Island you weren't from the Beach. But to someone in Kansas City its all the Beach
