So here is what we decided to do: Getting a NJ only plan is much cheaper than the multistate option that was available in 2016. At the start, we're a few thousand ahead for the year. For visits to a specialist in NY, we will pay cash. Those appointments are a hundred bucks or so. The expensive part is the lab tests, ultrasounds, etc. For those, a NJ facility can do the work as prescribed by the NY doctor, so the tests will be covered under the plan.
Aetna kicked out small business-NJ insurance w NY option?
Aetna recently kicked out small business so we were left to find another insurance company. We prefer NY hospitals vs Phila and turns out almost all insurance for NJ subscriber covers Phila. The only insurance company we found was United Healthcare, Oxford. They don't cover many routine Dr "procedures." Want to switch insurance. Anyone with suggestions? Thanks

I work in NY and have Empire BCBS but I live in NJ and I find that many hospitals, labs, and doctors in NJ also participate in network premier and ppo with Empire BCBS
