The Best Diner
The best diner was any diner that wasn't crowded at 2 am and after partying at some local club.

LCG: Ha, ha, ha!
You know what would happen if you were partyin' down Belmar and you didn't finish that last drink before 2?
No room for you at Pat's Diner (Which was torn down...stoopid condos) and you ended up at White Castle.
Was this a South Jersey thing or what? We used to call White Castle hamburgers: Squirrel meat.
I also think those poor ba***rds working there made the shakes uber-uber thick on purpose just to watch our drunk-a$$es sip through the straw and look as if our brains were coming out.
A! Those were the days! LOL!

My area of North Jersey USED to have white castles until about 20 years ago. I haven't seen them around here since then. I think the White Castle that used to be here is now an Acura dealer.

Yes !
Im glad some one said the Budd Lake Diner. If you didn't then I would have. So let me second your answer.
And as far as your tuna melts.......I lived in Budd Lake for 9 years and I bet I had thier tuna melt at least once a month so that is ummmmmm......... like 100 of them over 9 years?
I remember calling ahead to order as many as 5 of them for pick up. We would bring them to our boat on Lake Hopatcong and have quite the tuna party.
Hey they had some other good things too. I think I remember the menu being about 7 pages.

Wanna hear somethin' scary? I was a waitress at both Pat's Tavern and the Tides back in the day...'92-93
Sometimes, if I was on the ***** list at Pat's, they would make me work at Patrick's Pub.

I thought of another Diner I loved. I think it was called the Ledgewood Diner on the old Ledgewood Circle.
It is here where Cindi Lauper recorded the now famous music video "Time After Time". There was some kind of metal sign in the booth where she sat saying something like "this is the place" something something.
Back around 1992 you could still get 3 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, 3 breakfast sausages, and 3 slices of toast for $1.99.
Since I dont eat meat I used to bring home the sausage and bacon to my dog.
Ah the good ol days.

There's a White Castle at JFK and Newark in Jersey City . . . you'll see me there often enough (it would be more often if it was closer to home). And it's right across the street from our favorite Indian restaurant in Jersey City, The Village. There's also one at 8th Ave and 36th in Manhattan, but when in Manhattan, I'm usually eating at different places all the time.
