And as far as your tuna melts.......I lived in Budd Lake for 9 years and I bet I had thier tuna melt at least once a month so that is ummmmmm......... like 100 of them over 9 years?
I remember calling ahead to order as many as 5 of them for pick up. We would bring them to our boat on Lake Hopatcong and have quite the tuna party.
Hey they had some other good things too. I think I remember the menu being about 7 pages.

Everything there is good, the omeletes and home fries are great as well as the burgers and fries and they have great shakes. The owners are very friendly as well. Used to love going there after hanging out at Bow Ties (which became Brew Ha Ha...now closed and moved to Route 519 in Harmony) for drinks and karaoke. Wow...i'm dating myself

The owner of the Great Notch was quite an eccentric guy, back in the day. He was definitely running on a lean mixture. I remember one time he emerged from behind the counter, wearing a kilt. This was during the afternoon, when I wasn't quite old enough to purchase alcohol legally, and one of my friends, who looked considerably older than me, went in there, to buy a couple of six packs. There was no one in the place at the time.
Is this place still standing, by the way? The frontage on Rt 46 in this area has to be worth several hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Mastori's !!!! oh yes the bread !!!
Back before they tore it down Luna bell where rt 1 & rt 9 met in Woodbridge was the best
there was nothing like one of their breakfast to help cure a hangover
another favorite stop was Olgas on the circle on the way down the shore
ok you all have me going through

Americana Diner
Another vote for the Americana Diner on rt 130 East Windsor. And an honorable mention to the Seville Diner on rt.18 in East Brunswick or should I say BrunZick
As for Mastori's in Bordentown. Ummm... I could pass on their free bread anyday. They plop a huge sticky dough ball of cinnamon or cheese in front of you and all the people say "Ohhh Ahhhh" I say YUCK. You can keep it.
Plus the table before you didn't eat their bread, can you guess where it winds up? You got it. On YOUR table, just reheated. LOL At that table sat the Jersey Nose Picker, The Jersey Ass Picker (Former disgruntled mail carrier that has the eternal Letter-in-his-slot) , and the Pennsey Truck Driver that just walked outta the Mens room after making a major deposit......

oh yeah, ummmmm love that Mastori's table bread.. yum yum.
