So, is that your real name or are you indeed the ledgendary guitarist from The Dixie Dreggs, Kansas and Deep Purple right here on our city-data forum?

Zappa is a riot, although I can only take him in short doses. But even my wife likes Joe's Garage.
No I am not steve, I am a women who happens to love great guitarists. I wish I was him, I just love his melodic style.

As far as Zappa, just listen to the music. Ohh my god, just great great music. I tell people forget the words.

I will check out S. Clarke. Thanks, always need something new.

Default Just saw this - he hates to name

drop (he is probably the most humble person you will ever meet) so doesn't usually tell people that unless he knows them better... He'd kill me if he knew I put this online but when I saw your SN, well how could I NOT say something? It was funny one guy we know said to him the other week "I saw this guy on TV & he reminded me so much of you..." My friend was like "uh yeah well I studied with him for a long time & roadied for him also..." It was soo funny to see our mutual friend's reaction to the fact he never talks about this at all.

He does play music...he has a band that is actually based in NJ - .you can check out their website it is woodfishmusic.com. If you are on myspace you can check them out too. Their live show is very intense & high energy better then their recordings imo...an element I don't see exhibited by alot of bands local or famous.

I've never met Dave LaRue - I think he lives in FL...My friend still talks to him via email sometimes...we were going to go to a show he was playing locally awhile back but had to miss it.

My friend quit playing for a long time due to various frustrations, but some major life changes a while back caused him to realize you only live once...So right now he kills himself working an intense day job & runs the band as a second full time job...That's dedication for you!

The best for me is when I see the kids watch him play...the way they react is so unabashed and real...anyway back to our regularly scheduled posts.

b75, thanks for info. I am gonna check the band woodfishmusic.com out. I am always looking for really good live music. I really love alot about SM's sound. Its so melodic, and beautiful, a guitar you don't hear that ofter. I am so sick of the basic bad blues its not funny. Its just bores me. I guess I like a more classically based music sound or prog rock or Zappa who just can't classify. Thanks for the info, and we wont tell anyone. ITs our secret. Thanks again Marilyn

Ha yeah...The band's name is Woodfish...that is their website I gave ya' People who are into progressive rock def. seem to follow them although they are technically classified as groove rock. Like I said go to a live show though, many consider it an experience. If you have any questions re: which ones would be best to see live, just ask. They have a big gig coming up on Friday in Grammercy Park at the Blender Theater opening for Foghat - should be a good time!

He has been doing alot with the local bands too, creating backroom bashes at Paul's Tavern in Belmar, where different local music comes to play that is pre-scheduled & there is a whole night made of it...It is a good quality show & one of the bartender's was remarking about how much the like the crowd too that are brought out...Anyway hope you enjoy - there is nothing better then a good live show imo

Sorry it wont work for you, it just loads right up for me. Im sure you will find him on youtube. The jazz/funk he plays might not be your cup of tea, but he really jams on the bass. If you like melodic guitarists,Im sure you have heard of Ritchie Blackmore.

I always enjoy reading your posts too, you have alot to bring to the forums.

yes Richie Blackmore, do you know who took his place in Deep Purple and is better!!! Steve Morse!!! I like good base players, I have seen Levin so many times I lost count, Its funny the worst bass player I saw my friend dragged me to see, its that jack hammer sound Lemmy K. of Motorhead. I mean between the voice and the bass I was ready to get sick. I have to check out clarke , I know he is a big name so I will find time. Thanks everyone!!!!!! I will check back on this post in a while.

Morse added new life to Deep Purple. To take a dead act and bring them back!!! I saw them so many times with Morse and they were great!!! Now come on where is Blackmore now, playing some bad renassiance music with Blackmore's night no less a wacko women playing chuch basements. At least Morse has not dropped too much acid and is not studing mid evil times. I think Blackmore cracked up and would love to get Morse along to play guitar and I can think of a lot more with my dirty mind too!!!! Lets not forget Blackmore visiting the Dark Forest Entry in Western CT and thinks its haunted and evil lets just all worship satan. He is out there!!!!

Actually we can end this easy ............... besides Jeff Beck, whom I love love love, the little Itailain vituoso STEVE VAI is the real GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We could really cook our own 3 G with Beck, Vai, and Morse!!!!
