Ask for more info you need so:

Recently my family was able to get a Handicapped Sign in front of our house for one of our relatives. The problems we've been dealing with as of lately are pesky people that park there for continues hours (3-6), and sometimes for a whole day. We had to call the cops there a couple of times to tow the vehicles for us to use the space.

The question I wanted to ask is......are we able to put a "No Parking" sign there. I know it will not be enforced by the police, but will we be in trouble (legally) if we placed it there?

No, You can not put up your own No Parking Sign...

Just keep calling the cops, and ticket and/or Ticket/Tow the car, Eventually People will stop parking there. (Or they will run you out of town 1st).

Btw: Any other Handicap car can park in that space if they want to, Its not reserved for you...

Do the people that you've seen parking in that spot have a handicapped tag or license plate? If not, than call the police & they should be ticketed & fined.

If they do have a handicapped tag or license plate than it's legal for them to park in that spot.

Not necessarily true. There are towns in NJ that reserve handicapped parking spaces to a specific handicap tag or plate number. The space is usually in front of that persons home.

You are totally able to put up a no parking sign. Everyone else is legally entitled to completely ignore it however the same way they can ignore "Mustang Parking Only!" signs that you might put up.

If the city or county didn't put it up they're not going to enforce it so you might as well not bother.
