Hi everybody my husband and I are wanting to move to Monmouth county and I would like to know of some nice family friendly towns. They don't have to be on the water but the closer the better. Good schools are a must. Budget is $200k. Thank you
200K? Are you serious? Not realistic in Monmouth County. You could maybe buy a two bedroom condo in a middle of the road community. But even that would be stretching it. You could find something in Keansburg for that price, but the schools are bad and the town is in a flood zone.
200K must be a typo... I think there are plenty of great family towns in Monmouth County but I don't know where you'll find a house in a decent school district in NJ for 200K... I don't think that exists. You'd need to double your budget, at minimum.
very good schools will be very tough on that budget. My suggestions- looks for condo/townhomes (eve short sales) in Hazlet, Shrewsbury TOWNSHIP (not boro), and Tinton Falls. Tinton Falls would have best schools by far for your budget. Eatontown is also in play- but not such a hot town and schools are mediocre at best. Maybe Freehold as well- Twp is better than Boro there- but not sure if Twp will work for that budget.
200K will make it tough though. If you can handle a fixer upper/short sale you might be able to get a small townhome/condo at that price.
Avoid Keansburg at all costs even though stuff may come up for there, even saying its Middletown. Also - be weary of anyplace that looks to nice, its prob Sandy damaged.
I second you can probably get a 2 bedroom townhome is hazlet or tinton falls, they might not be top tier schools but I would definetly consider them family towns. Many of the people I know from Hazlet are very succesful.

You can get something in a decent school district for $200K. Probably more a tear-down than a fixer-upper though.
Wow most of these comments are so rude. God forbid you correct me with a little tact. That would be crazy wouldn't it?!? I asked a simple question, I could think of 10 responses off the top of my head that would have been more polite while still getting the same point across. Thanks a lot I have been a resident of nj my entire life and this will be my 5th home purchased. They do exist. Do a trulia search
